It is not always a bed of roses.

Perhaps the post before this was a tad too early. Life is unpredictable anyway.

The conversation between an employee and her boss:

'There's something I need to talk to you about.'
'It's gonna be my 2nd year in November.'

'You wanna ask about pay increment?'

'Sorry but there might not be any increment or pay review.'

'The management might want to have a pay freeze'

'The company hasn't been making money so there won't be any increment.'

'There might be a revision for the support staff.'

(and the grandfather story goes on)

'So, what is the marketing direction then?'

'Right now, there isn't much of a workload for the sales is slowing down.'

'I've asked before if the workload is a lot that we need to hire 2 marcom executives'

'OK... ...'

And he keeps talking,

'So, what is your plan now?'

Well, the above conversation was edited and obviously she has to be prepared for the worst. Seriously, does she even bother about all the grandfather stories? She does not care a single bit about what happened 5/10 years ago. She wants her future. She wants an advancement. She needs a direction. Simple words said yet with hidden meanings. That is the corporate world for her. Leave the ship before it becomes a submarine.

And behind her smile, lies a million daggers in her eyes.
